It is disheartening what the charity drop offs deal with - they often get lots of things that are too torn/stained/dirty to resell (they don't launder what they put out), and then often it is ruined, too, by being left out. Usually employees just have too much to deal with. Learning this made me a lot more careful with the things I donate/pass along. I think the best we can do is to try to stop contributing to the issue - buy less new, buy secondhand, upcycle existing items, or take items that need adjustment to a tailor. Of course, part of the problem with fast fashion is that, even though it's made to be affordable, so much of the clothes are now made so cheaply, they simply don't last very long. It's a hard issue to tackle.
