wrt to that pineapple article, I thought it was amusing to see Hawai'ian produced pineapple referred to as "local", given how far it is from a lot of the US. I mean, a pineapple from Hawai'i shipped to the east coast isn't really that much more local, carbon footprint-wise, than one from Costa Rica, though hopefully at least those grown in Hawai'i aren't so environmentally damaging.
