On Internet Friends and In-Person Friends, Or As They Are More Commonly Known, “Friends” -by Becky Chambers
As someone who finds it very hard to "get out" and socialize (not only due to the limitations of parenting and working, but due to the fact that I'm incredibly socially awkward in person, especially with people I'm just getting to know), I find all of that very exhausting instead of energizing. I loathe it at times. I'd guess that I have many more online friends that I do have "real life" friends - although those friendships are unique and special in their own ways.
My internet peeps have been with me through thick and thin. They've seen me no-holds-barred and they've seen me at my lowest and highest. There are people in "real life" that I can't say that for.
I love the relationships I've developed online over the years, and I can only hope to develop more. You guys are awesome.
